Who publishes this guide, and why

Snuusio Editorial is a small publication from ZAF Group AB, a Swedish company based in Täby, just north of Stockholm. It publishes one thing: a reference guide to classic flavor profiles and the food traditions behind them.

Why a guide to flavor

We are based in Sweden and most of our readers are in the United States, Canada and Australia. That gap is the reason the guide exists. Flavors that are entirely ordinary in Scandinavia, such as bergamot, juniper and salty licorice, are unfamiliar to many readers elsewhere, and flavors that are everyday in North America, such as wintergreen, are close to unknown at home. The same word on a label can mean two different things depending on where it was written.

The guide sets out where each of these profiles comes from, which compound gives it its character, and how it is usually understood in each of those four markets.

How the guide is written

• Plain language first. Chemical names appear where they explain something, and are always introduced.
• General, not specific. The guide describes flavors and traditions. It does not describe, rate or compare any particular item or maker.
• No claims. Nothing in the guide attributes any property or effect to any item, and nothing in it is advice of any kind.
• Corrections welcome. If a passage is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will fix it. The review date at the top of each page shows when it was last checked.

Who it is for

The guide is written for adult readers aged 21 and over. The age confirmation at the top of the home page leads to a separate website with its own terms and its own privacy policy.
